Senior member of the BCCI Medical Team contracts coronavirus

The global pandemic novel coronavirus has brought the entire world into a standstill which also postponed all the sporting events across the globe since mid-March. However, the situation is slowly getting back in the zone. With the cancellation of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, The BCCI has decided to host the 13th edition of Indian Premier League is all set to take place in the UAE, keeping the rise of COVID-19 cases in mind.

However, a member of the BCCI’s medical team who is currently in UAE for the upcoming cash-rich league has tested positive by the deadly COVID-19. With this, the number has reached 14 in the IPL.

Meanwhile, the previous 13 positives cases were all from the Chennai Super Kings franchise, which also included players like Deepak Chahar and Ruturaj Gaekwad. On the other hand, as per the report, the member of the medical commission didn’t show any symptom and the member has been put in quarantine as well.

And, with this, the total number of new positive cases in UAE touched 735 on Wednesday too. This situation has left everyone shocked and Australia pacer Josh Hazlewood, who will be seen in yellow for the Chennai Super Kings in this IPL season, had also expressed his concerns about taking part in the tournament in UAE. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson, who will be seen playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad, also opened up about the current situation.

“Obviously that’s bad news,” Williamson told Radio New Zealand on Wednesday. “You don’t want to hear anybody (has) COVID. “I hear they are predominantly asymptomatic, so hopefully through another lockdown period, they can come through and we’ll be okay.”

“There’s a little bit of apprehension, certainly as you get nearer to the time … you start thinking you do have to be extremely vigilant and disciplined,” he further added.

Kane Williamson again added that he was happy to see the arrangement there as all of the teams in the tournament will stay in separate hotels. Even there are strict guidelines for players also who have also been asked not to breach their bio-security bubble during the tournament which is slated to begin on September 19 and end on November 10.
