Pinki Jangra Biography

Pinki Rani Jangra is a flyweight Indian boxer from Hisar, Haryana. Pinki is known as ‘Giant Killer’ due to her achievements. She has won gold medals at the 2011 National Games of India and the 2012 and 2014 National championships in the flyweight (51kgs) division.


She is a bronze medal winner at the Commonwealth Games in 2014. Pinki also won a gold medal at the President’s Cup International Boxing in Palembang, South Sumatra, Indonesia, in 2015.  She was the only Indian pugilist who bagged the gold medal at the Arafura Games.

Domestic Career


Pinki became known to even the ones who don’t watch boxing after she defeated London Olympic Games bronze medalist and six times World Champion Mary Kom in National Boxing Championship 2009 and Commonwealth Games 2014 qualification trial.

Pinki also beat five times Asian Champion and World Champion Laishram Sarita Devi in National Games and National Boxing Championship 2011.

Domestic Victories

Pinki Rani Jangra won the Federation Cup Women Boxing Championship which was held in Erode, Tamil Nadu in 2009. The same year she won the Gold in N.C. Sharma Memorial Federation Cup Women Boxing Championship, Nainital.

In the S.H.N.C. Sharma Memorial Federation Cup Women Boxing Championship, Uttarakhand in 2010 -11, Pinki bagged the gold. She repeated the heroics in the 9th Senior Women Haryana State Boxing Championship, Panipat, in 2010.

In the 10th Senior Women Haryana State Boxing Championship, held in Mehandergarh, Jangra won Gold in 2011. She won another gold in the 7th Senior Women North India Boxing Championship, Himachal Pradesh. She again won gold at the 4th Inter-Zonal Women National Boxing Championship in Visakhapatnam in 2012.


National Victories

 

The boxer won gold at the 34th National Games which were held in Jamshedpur in 2011. In November 2012 at the 13th Senior Women’s National Boxing Championship in Guwahati, she won the Gold.

 

2014 was another great year for her at the Nationals as she won two golds. The first one at the All India Inter-Railway Boxing Championships, Agra in March and the other at the 1st Monnet Women Elite National Boxing Championship in Raipur. In 2015 she repeated her heroics at the All India Inter-Railway Boxing Championship, Bilaspur, by bagging another Gold in February 2015.
