There were no training facilities in his hometown, hence, Mohit took guidance from his seniors.
Mohit missed out on Delhi state team selections, but he was selected by the Rajasthan team. “They had a full squad anyway and there was a lot of competition. But Navneet Gautam knew about me and asked me to play for Rajasthan,” he recalled in an interview with the Indian Express.
He received recognition there and started making his mark in the field of kabaddi. His stellar performances in the Pro Kabaddi League earned him a spot in the Indian team. And what a start it was!
Mohit’s career with the National team couldn’t have started on a better note. He was a part of the Asian Games 2016 gold medal-winning team. The very same year, the team won the Kabaddi World Cup, too. It was indeed a special moment for Mohit.
Mohit played for U Mumba in the Pro Kabaddi League for three years. Later Bengaluru Bulls signed him for a record 53 lakh rupees.

Randhir Singh, an experienced coach, has helped out Mohit a lot. In an interview, Mohit was quoted as “He has made us work really hard in the practice sessions in order to prepare us for the upcoming season and told us to play a confident game on the mat irrespective of what the result might be. The most important advice that he gave us is good things will happen if we would play fair and hard!”
[Tweet ““We’re actually not related. But the fact that we both play kabaddi, and that we come from the same village creates a bond. That’s why he was often coaching me when I was a junior. It’s watching players like him and Rakesh that inspired me,” Mohit told the Indian Express.”]
