Just like its previous editions, the 13th edition of the tournament this year just launched its anthem for this year. However, Indian rapper Krishna Kaul aka KR$NA has claimed that the anthem has been plagiarised from one of his tracks!

To symbolise the struggle through the COVID-19 pandemic and finally hosting the blockbuster tournament, IPL’s anthem this year is titled this year is titled ‘Aayenge Hum Wapas’ (We will come back), with a motto of, “The greater the setback 😷 The stronger the comeback 💪”, which KR$NA says has been copied from his work.

They can not get away with this: KR$NA claims IPL has plagiarised his track

On Monday, KR$NA lashed out at IPL, and claimed the anthem has been copied from his single ‘Dekh Kaun Aaya Waapas’ (See who is back), without taking his permission or giving him credit. He also made a post on Twitter, asking other artists and his fan base to spread the news.

“Hey guys @IPL has plagiarised my song “Dekh Kaun Aaya Waapas” and created “Aayenge Hum Wapas” as this years anthem without credit or consent. I request my fellow artists and friends on twitter to RT this tweet for awareness, they can not get away with this. @DisneyPlusHS” the 30 year old artist from New Delhi tweeted.

KR$NA’s post on twitter soon went viral, and has gathered over 2.2k likes and 1.5k retweets.

However, the netizens are somewhat split on regarding if the anthem is plagiarised or not. While some compared both the tracks, and nodded their heads on KR$NA’s claim, other said that both the lyrics and the tune is very different.

As of now, IPL themselves have not made any comments on it yet.
