Hockey India nominates Rani Rampal for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award

Rani played a vital role in India’s return to the Olympics after 36 years in Rio. She led India to Asia cup title in 2017 and also in Asian games 2018 where they bagged a Silver. She scored the crucial goal for India in the Olympics qualifiers that sent the nation to the consecutive Olympic apperance.

Rani was awarded World Games athlete of the year in 2019. Also, she became the recipient of Arjuna award in 2016 and Padma Shri award in 2020.

Women’s team strikers Vandhana Katariya and Monika have been nominated for the Arjuna award. Both the experienced players received over 200 and 150 caps for India, respectively.
They have contributed much to India’s campaign in FIH series final, Hiroshima; Olympic test event in Japan and Olympic qualifiers in Bhubaneshwar.

Men’s team drag flicker Harmanpreet Singh has also been nominated for Arjuna award. The Indian team vice captain and defender-drag flicker has played an important role in FIH series finals last year. He led India in the Olympic test event last year in the absence of regular captain Manpreet and has represented India in Rio Olympics and Odisha Hockey World Cup.
