Bhuvneshwar Kumar believes Indian cricket heading in the right direction with IPL resumption

India, as well as Sunrisers Hyderabad speedster Bhuvneshwar Kumar, recently said that the 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is the best way to begin the cricketing activities for the country after an imposed COVID-19 lockdown. The 2020 edition of IPL will take place from September 19 and the 53-day tournament will end on November 10 in the UAE across three venues –Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah.

While David Warner will lead Sunrisers Hyderabad this year, Kane Williamson and Bhuvneshwar had captained the team last year in the absence of Warner who was serving a one-year ban due to his involvement in the ball-tampering scandal.

It’s great to be back, personally I have been away from this game for a while, first I was injured and then this coronavirus pandemic put a halt to every sport. I am pretty excited about IPL like I have said I have been away from this game for a while so I cannot wait to get back in action, I don’t think there could be a better tournament than IPL in India to start off with cricket and I am sure it will bring joy to the people of India,” Bhuvneshwar Kumar said to IPLT20.com.

“Definitely, I am going to miss playing in India especially in front of our home crowd, they have been supporting us for many years, I feel they are one of the major motivating factors for us,” he further added.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar has so far played 86 matches for the franchise, claiming 109 wickets. Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that 13 members including two players have been tested positive for the deadly COVID-19.

“13 personnel have tested positive of which 2 are players. All the affected personnel as well as their close contacts are asymptomatic and have been isolated from other team members. They are being monitored by the IPL Medical Team,” the BCCI had shared in an official release.

However, all players and team personnel have to go through a six-day quarantine period after reaching the UAE and everyone requires to be tested for the deadly virus thrice. After their results come out negative for COVID-19, the players will begin their training as well.
