ADCC to bring its First-ever Grappling tournaments in India with ADCC India Nationals

The Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC), one of the world’s most prestigious Grappling tournaments is all set to unveil in India with the first ever ADCC India Nationals on Sunday, 23rd February 2020 at DLF Avenue Mall, Saket, New Delhi, India. The World’s largest Submission Wrestling Tournament is expected to witness over 300 fighters battle it out for crowning glory.

The tournament is open only to Indian nationals and is divided into three categories i.e. Beginners, Intermediate and Pro. The winner of the Pro category will move on to compete at the ADCC Asian qualifiers; and move one step closer to compete against the likes of Gordan Ryan and Keenan Cornelius at the ADCC World Championships 2021.

The ADCC, for the first time is organizing an absolute division (no weight category) for the pros. This is the first time that ‘the best grappler in India will be crowned’. Three international referees from Singapore, Finland and Kazakhstan will officiate three mat areas.

Speaking on ADCC India nationals taking place for the very first time in India,

Siddharth Singh, CEO of Crosstrain Fight Club and Co-Founder, ADCC India said, “I am super excited about ADCC India Nationals taking place in our country for the very first time. This is a huge opportunity for Indian grappling enthusiasts to showcase what they are capable off on the mat. This is a chance for Indians to create history as no Indian has qualified for the World Championships. I am hoping to witness some great action and would like to wish the best to all the participants.”

After kick-starting in 1998, The ADCC World Championship will be in its 14th edition in the year 2021. The ADCC World Championship takes place once every two years and has featured grapplers like Kron Gracie, Kyra Gracie, Fabricio Werdum, Demian Maia etc. The qualification for the world championship takes place in four continents i.e. American tryouts, North American tryouts, South American tryouts and Asian tryouts.

About ADCC:

The Club and the competition ADCC World Submission Fighting Championships were the idea and creation of a UAE national Sheik Tahnoon Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the son of then U.A.E. leader Sheik Zayed. who at the time was completing his advanced studies in USA. In 1993 after watching the first U.F.C. Sheik Tahnoon then became a fan of MMA. Shortly after that he started studying Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in San Diego, California. Upon completing his studies, Sheik Tahnoon returned to the U.A.E, but his passion for Martial arts did not stop. Sheik Tahnoon set out to create and build his vision of implementing Martial Arts not only in his native U.A.E. but also creating a standard for which all ground fighting martial arts would be measured. Hence ADCC was born.
