Preparations are in full swing one year before the opening of the world's largest competition and popular sports event.


The International German Gymnastics Festival 2021 will take place in Leipzig for the 13th time. From May 12th to 16th, over 50,000 participants and guests from Germany and all over the world will come to the sports city of Leipzig and discover a variety of demonstrations, sporting competitions and participatory offers. 

“We are currently finalizing the program so that we can start the registration phase on June 1, 2020. We are already looking forward to around 50,000 active participants, hundreds of thousands of visitors and around 5,000 volunteers who will make the International German Gymnastics Festival 2021 in Leipzig an unforgettable experience, ”says Kati Brenner, managing director of the organizing committee for the Turnfest Leipzig 2021 Looking forward to the event. 

With a compact and up-to-date concept, a varied, interesting and sustainable program is offered at various locations around the city for all kinds of mass, competitive and health sports. Not only do you get to know various sports and the city of Leipzig actively, but the gymnastics festival also offers the opportunity to continue your education in the gymnastics academy with over 400 workshops, seminars and lectures. 

After Leipzig last hosted a gymnastics festival in 2002, the city is looking forward to welcoming guests from all over the world who love gymnastics. Visitors can expect a lively city, where not only sports, but also art and music flourish. In addition to the large sports venues such as the Red Bull Arena, the Quarterback Immobilien Arena, the Nordanlage am Sportforum and the sports science faculty of the University of Leipzig, numerous other places such as Augustusplatz, the market square, the Leipziger Messe and the Clara-Zetkin-Park become a central gymnastics festival -Experience sites.
