Who founded SGADF, and what is its mission?

Shivam Thakur, born in November 2002 in Noida (Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh), is the visionary founder and current president of the School Games and Activity Development Foundation (SGADF) (issuewire.com). A former cricketer and an International County pistol-shooting athlete, Thakur transitioned from sports on the field to fielding a new kind of foundation in 2017 (in.linkedin.com).

Driven by a mission to uplift youth—especially those from underprivileged backgrounds—SGADF fosters fairness, transparency, and access in sports and physical education . It is registered under the Indian Government’s 1882 Act and empaneled with NITI Aayog and the Ministry of MSMEs through Udyog Aadhaar (sgadf.com).

SGADF’s mission is “to create opportunities, build character, and empower the next generation of sports heroes.” It focuses on providing platforms for talent development at grassroots, national, and international levels—spanning conventional sports like basketball and athletics to cultural activities like dance and drama (sgadf.com).

Under Thakur’s leadership, SGADF is also recognized by global bodies such as TAFISA, IAKS, and ICSSPE—underscoring its commitment to the Olympic ideals of fair play, inclusivity, and community upliftment through sport (sgadf.com).

In essence, SGADF reflects Thakur’s belief in sport as a transformative force—one that provides underrepresented youth with access, character-building, and opportunity to represent their nation proudly on an international stage.
