Revealing Workout Tips and Diet Plan Secrets of Ajinkya Rahane

In a Indian cricket team full of bulging muscles, tattooed arms, gelled hair – a quiet yet very effective man stands out and he is none other than Indian Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane.

A stark opposite personality to his captain Virat Kohli, Rahane is India’s Test batting mainstay. He looks from a Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid generation with his calm-headedness and textbook batting style.

Born in Mumbai, Rahane started playing Cricket at a young age. He rose through the ranks, plundering runs in domestic cricket. He made his ODI and T20I debut for the Indian national team in 2011 against England and his Test debut in 2013 against Australia at Feroz Shah Kotla.

He has never looked behind ever since. He is the only player in the current Test team to have his name at the Lords’ Honours Board for his match-winning century against England in 2014. Even the greats Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara and Ricky Ponting don’t have their names on the board.

In his 56 Test matches, Rahane has scored 3488 runs at an average of 40.56 with 9 centuries and the highest of 188. In 90 ODI games. he has made 2962 runs at an average of 35.26 with 3 centuries and 24 half centuries.

The 30-year-old might not be a hard hitter of the cricketing ball but his sublime technique and his brisk running between the wickets makes him stand out of a current lot of batsmen. Apart from that, he is a brilliant fielder too.

Let us take a look at his workout and diet plan:

Ajinkya Rahane Workout:

      • Running: He tells healthyceleb.com, “You should at least run 3 miles on a daily basis to keep yourself fit and active. It’s not necessary that you should run on a treadmill only. Rather it would be better if you would run around the neighbourhood and especially in the morning as it would allow you to take in a lot of fresh air on a regular basis. The fresh air would keep you healthy and a good run would clean out all drowsiness from your eyes and make you alert and ready to face the day.”
      • Suryanamaskar and Meditation: He likes performing Surya Namaskar and Meditation every morning. It keeps him calm and builds his composure. He says, “You must have a healthy and positive state of mind during practice. I try to maintain that each time I step in to bat. For me, visualisation is the key. Simulating a match situation in my head each time I bat during practice helps me. In the end, the finer things you do each day count.”
      • Karate: Ajinkya started practising Karate when he was 6 years old, he was a black belt when he was 11. He believes that practising karate during his initial years helped him very much.
      • Gymming: The right hander likes to spend quality time in the gym. He thinks that even one or two hours are enough if you are doing core exercises as compared to doing light exercises throughout the day. He urges doing heavy exercises on a regular basis.
