PV Sindhu’s Fitness Routine

The 23-year-old ace shuttler PV Sindhu bagged the silver medal in the Rio Olympics 2016 and made the entire country proud of her.

Her passion and determination for the sport and the amount of hard work and dedication she puts into her fitness will amaze you. Do you know she gets up at 3:30 in the morning when most of us who are social media addicted,  might head off to bed?

PV Sindhu’s fitness routine

The young badminton star is an early bird. She wakes up at 3:30 AM and begins training with her coach Pullela Gopichand at 4:00-4:30 AM which goes on to 7 AM and then she takes a halt for her breakfast. Her next group session then begins at 8 AM and it continues for a couple of hours. After this, the third session starts at 11 AM.

The Olympic silver medalist’s single training session can go upto a thousand shuttles and more. She trains for almost 6-7 hours in a single day and six days a week. Phew!

During the evening, she attends her gym and running sessions which continues for a stretch of 2-3 hours a day.

PV Sindhu Fitness Plan

Sindhu follows a strict fitness plan prescribed by her physiotherapist – Kiran Challagundla. He frequently examines her blood composition, body weight, heart rate, physical strength and stamina; and concentrates more on her physical fitness.

The physiotherapist monitors each and every result and changes her fitness plan accordingly, which suits her the best. He prescribes nutrition supplements as per the requirement.

Sindhu follows an alternate running session that includes: two to three sets of ten 400m runs a single 2.4 km run on the other day to build endurance and strength.

Apart from that, Sindhu also performs100 push-ups and 200 sit-ups in a day. This makes for 600 pushups and 2400 abdominal exercises in a week to activate her core and abdominal muscles.

Sindhu’s daily schedule also includes Yoga, Pranayama, Kapalabhati, and Swimming.

If this won’t inspire you then what will !
