IPL: No Covid-19 cases inside our bio-bubble, assures Delhi

NEW DELHI: There was tension in the air following positive cases in the Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) camp here, since the Delhi leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has four matches left to be played in the next five days.

A few members of the ground staff at the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) too tested positive. CSK are scheduled to play their next match against Rajasthan Royals on Wednesday and there has been no indication from BCCI yet on rescheduling the match. TOI understands that the BCCI has written to franchises saying it is “monitoring” the situation.CSK, meanwhile, cancelled their scheduled practice session at the Kotla on Monday evening as a precautionary measure. Around five of the ground staff tested positive over the last fortnight. The ground staff had been put in a bubble for over three weeks now. DDCA president Rohan Jaitley has claimed that none of the ground staff were on match duty when they tested positive.

“We had decided to rotate a set of ground staff every three-four days. The ones who tested positive were not on match duty. As of now, there is no positive cases in the bubble,” Jaitley said on Monday. DDCA had been removing everyone with mild symptoms from the bubble. It has already vaccinated staff and a lot of them are also up for their second dose. There have also been frequent instances of positive cases that have returned negative in a couple of days, like Kolkata Knight Riders' Nitish Rana and Delhi Capitals' Anrich Nortje
