Home Fitness Startup Tempo Concludes A USD 60 Million Funding Deal

Tempo, an AI Startup focusing on home fitness completed the raising of funds of USD 60 Million for the purpose of enhancing its gym system that is powered by Artificial Intelligence. Further, Tempo plans to utilize the funds raised for the purpose of expansion of its content offering through a second production studio.

The emergence of Coronavirus pandemic had led to shutting down of offices and establishments and with shelter-in-place orders coming into effect, sales of fitness equipment recorded a massive increase in the past few months. Tempo has been able to take advantage of the situation, with a growth in its sales touching a new high during this period.

A monthly subscription of USD 39 towards Tempo’s weight training system offers to provide users with real-time technique corrections, in addition to counting reps and the number of calories burnt. Additionally, the users are also provided with suggestions for weight-lifting. The 3D Infrared sensors scans movement of users up to 30 times every second for the purpose of tracking performance as well as providing feedback. Additionally, it offers a view from its 42-inch display as well as coming with competition-grade barbells, dumbbells and other accessories.

At the time of live classes, notifications are sent to instructors about any mistake committed by the users, which is helpful for them to provide guidance to the users in real time. A live leaderboard is present and also permits fitness enthusiasts to compete with their friends, including other persons. A request can be made for personalized weight recommendations that take into account their experience as a whole.

Tempo offers classes both as live classes and through on-demand mode which are led by National Academy of Sports Medicine-certified trainers. They combine traditional weight lifting along with high-intensity training intervals (HIIT) in the case of full-body workouts based on accepted sports science principles. Optional trainer-curated programs deliver a series of courses that are focused on targeting various muscle groups on a daily basis. On the other hand, algorithms track progress to inform the system’s feedback features.

The version of Tempo’s software can recognize seat shoulder presses, front squats and many other exercises. At the same time, it collates data in order to show the users a comparison between their present and past efforts.

Tempo ships directly from Tempo.fit and can also be purchased from Best Buy.
