Commonwealth Games (CWG 2010- New Delhi) Wrestling Gold Medalist Arjan Singh Bhullar has been a professional fighter for his entire life. He grew up learning various styles of wrestling and fighting. At first, he mastered himself in the Indian Kushti style which he learned from his father and later moved into the Freestyle. Arjan Singh Bhullar fine-tuned his professional skills and himself in the sports at every level. With his hard work, zeal for success and never giving up attitude, Arjan Singh Bhullar attained the title of Sultan Bhullar.


Bhullar has various achievements in his bag, starting from university level, to a gold medal at the CWG, and a proud participant at the 2012 London Olympics, (representing Canada) to becoming the 1st Indian origin fighter to win a world title in a top-level MMA.

Arjan Singh Bhullar was born on May 13, 1986, in Richmond British Columbia. He has mastered himself in Indian-Canadian mixed martial arts and currently, he is competing in the heavyweight division of “ONE Championship”. Bhullar or the Sultan Bhullar is currently ranked world number one in the Heavyweight category. He is also a participant of the UFC- Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Bhullar is highly skilled in both freestyle wrestling and folkstyle wrestling. As a freestyle wrestler, Arjan Bhullar has represented Canada in 2007, 2009, 2010, and 2011 World Championships, at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, at the 2007 Pan American Games, and at the 2012 Summer Olympics. In folkstyle, Bhullar is a 2-time NAIA Champion and 1-time freestyle CIS Champion from Canada. Bhullar is one of the most prominent athletes in Canada. His fighting skills gained him a lot of success and a name in the fighting fraternity.

The early life of Arjan Bhullar

Bhullar was born and brought up in Vancouver, British Columbia. He showed signs of a fighter at a very young age. As a budding wrestler, Bhullar competed for the Simon Fraser Clan at Simon Fraser University, (an NAIA university). He had a successful career in wrestling, competing in the 285 pounds category. Arjan Bhullar stood third in 2007 in NAIA Wrestling Championship and became champion in the years following- 2008 and 2009 at the NAIA Wrestling Championships. He was honored with the title of Canada’s Wrestler of the Year and NAIA’s outstanding wrestler in 2009. In the year 2009, Bhullar became the very 1st wrestler to ever win the NAIA and CIS titles in the same calendar year.

Arjan Bhullar is one of the founding members and coaches of the University of the Fraser Valley varsity wrestling program. The UFV Cascades compete in the CIS.

Professional Career | Sultan Bhullar

After the 2012 London Olympic, Bhullar turned his pedals to mixed martial arts and began preparing for his professional debut. It was always a dream goal for Bhullar. The ever-confident man won his first six professional bouts at a stretch. His victories consisted of several TKOs, a perfect start to his professional career. In his 3rd professional fight, Bhullar won the heavyweight title in the Canadian regional promotion Battlefield Fight League. Later, he defended the title twice.

In the year 2014, Bhullar competed in his first amateur fight as a mixed martial art fighter. In November of the very same year Bhullar turned pro, he began fighting in the Battlefield Fight League. Over the next few years, Bhullar competed in various tournaments and leagues and remained undefeated with a record of six victories. Arjan won the BFL Heavyweight title defeating Blake Nash on October 17, 2015. He has successfully defended the title twice.

Bhullar very quickly in his career gained the attention of several major promotions, leagues, and sponsors. He has spent the last few years making a name for himself in Canada and throughout North America.

UFC Bhullar- Ultimate Fighting Championship

In May 2017, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that they have signed Arjan Bhullar, becoming the first Indo-Canadian fighter to sign a contract with the company.

Bhullar made his promotional debut at Ultimate Fighting Championship on September 9, 2017, against Luis Henrique. He won the fight via unanimous decision.

Bhullar was seen again in the ring against Adam Wieczorek on April 14, 2018, at UFC on Fox 29. After competing in the first round strongly, Bhullar officially lost the fight against Wieczorek at 1:59 of round 2.


In the 3rd fight, Bhullar faced Marcelo Golm on October 27, 2018, at UFC Fight Night 138. He won the fight via unanimous decision.
