Amit Mishra’s father is SM Mishra and Chandarkala Mishra is his mother. His brother’s name is Sujit. He was born in November of 1982 in Sonepat, Haryana. He was motivated towards cricket since his childhood. His passion and love together made his entry to cricket easy. In his early days, he received training under Sanjay Bhardwaj, the coach who also skilled Gautam Gambhir. Only a few know, Mishra wanted to be a batsman but it was Sanjay Bhardwaj to make him a leg-break bowler. “In my eyes, Amit Mishra is nothing less than a commando, who is told that an enemy attack can happen at any time and you have to be ready”, his coach once stated.
Amit Mishra played his domestic stint from Haryana
Amit Mishra left his education and moved to Haryana, quickly making it for the Ranji squad in 2000. Remember all young and budding cricketers, Amit was just 18 at that time. His skills and hard work turned into success. He continued to pale his claim in the only way that he knew – by picking up as many as wickets for Haryana in the Ranji trophy. Finally, Mishra got his break. How? Anil Kumble got injured in a series against Australia and retired immediately.

Mishra was initially drafted into the Indian squad for a Test against the West Indies in 2002 but was not chosen in the starting XI. He made his One Day International (ODI) debut against South Africa in 2003 for TVS Cup. For your info, he has been instrumental for India in ODI’s campaign, picking up 64 wickets from 36 matches at an average of 23.60. His economy in blue jersey is 4.72. In 2013, he managed to get the most wickets by any bowler in a five-match series against minnows Zimbabwe. The spinner also equaled the record of Javagal Srinath for the most wickets in a bilateral ODI series with 18 wickets. He played a couple of games in the 2014 Asia Cup and impressed many.

With his spin, he has so far scalped 74 wickets from 21 Test matches at an average of 35.10. Mishra last played in 2011 in whites when India was beaten 0-4 at England.
Amit Mishra plays IPL from Delhi Capitals
Mishra has been a prolific wicket-taking bowler in the domestic circuit while his performance within the Indian Premier League has earned him the tag of one of the best spinners in the league. From 147 matches played, the 36-year-old has claimed 157 wickets in IPL. Amit Mishra was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils to impress in the IPL and, by taking a hat-trick in a game against the Deccan Chargers, he proved his worth.
Mishra represented the Deccan Chargers and later went to wicket-taker among spin bowlers in India’s cricket carnival. Amit Mishra currently played in the jersey of Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL. He has performed consistently in the league and is the only IPL player to take three hat-tricks. Mishra is the leading way for Delhi Capitals.

Amit Mishra was called as a replacement for a regular spinner and dropped after just one or two average. It was not like he performed much worse than Anil Kumble, Harbhajan Singh, R Ashwin, or any other but he wasn’t the first choice spinner and therefore, simply ‘expendable’.
With over 500 first-class wickets and an amazing record in the shorter formats, there is hardly a light of hope. Mishra’s career, endangered to promise much but deliver little. At 36, Mishra is the most experienced bowler in the Indian squad in terms of age.
